Lake Whitingham Hiking Trail SHORE OF LAKE WHITINGHAM This beautiful, pristine shoreline features an old railroad bed along its western shore. You can reach this trail from either end of the 12-mile-long lake. The north access is at “Medburyville.” Go 2 1/2 miles west of the center of Wilmington and take a left across the bridge. Go left again and follow to the end. The trail begins at the gate. The south entrance to the trail begins at the dam. Take Rt. 100 south from Wilmington through Jacksonville to Whitingham Village. Turn right onto Dam road 1 mile after the Whitingham Country Store. At the end of this road find parking, and walk across the dam to a right turn for an easy 12 miles (one-way).
